ATLANTA, GA ----- The Atlanta Hawks today announced their 2004 preseason schedule, which features a nationally televised home game on October 22 against the Miami Heat, to be carried live on TNT Sports.
The Hawks’ eight-game slate consists of four home games, with two played at Philips Arena, and the first two held at neutral site locations. New head coach Mike Woodson and his team will open the exhibition season in the state on October 13 when Atlanta hosts new Southeast Division member Orlando at the Macon (GA) Coliseum at 7:30 ET. On the following night, the Hawks travel to Birmingham, Alabama to meet Minnesota in an 8:30 ET start at the Birmingham-Jefferson County Civic Center.
After traveling to Miami on October 18, Atlanta will welcome thousands of kids to Philips Arena for the first-ever Bank of America Kids Game, as the Hawks and Memphis Grizzlies tangle in an 11 a.m. ET tilt. The Bank of America Kids Game will focus on the NBA's Read to Achieve initiative that aims to help young people develop a life-long love for reading by reaching millions of children through league-wide support from the entire NBA family.
The Hawks will play their final three games on the road, beginning with an October 23rd contest at Memphis before traveling to Fayetteville, North Carolina to meet Charlotte on the 27th and closing out the preseason schedule at Pittsburgh’s Mellon Arena on October 28 against Cleveland.
